But 1700 years of Christian anti-Judaism preceded antisemitism. The Holocaust was the nearly successful final solution to Christendom’s Jewish Problem. Most Jews today limit blame to the person of Hitler. We believe our country exceptional, free of lethal antisemitism. Thus convinced we raise, no subject our children to the Precedent. That Moshe &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0"&gt;Rynecki&lt;/span&gt; is represented by more works than the other four represents nothing more than the fact that I feel that this &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1"&gt;project&lt;/span&gt; is important and deserves to be on-line as quickly as I can locate materials. Early in the Second World War &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_4"&gt;Rynecki&lt;/span&gt; was forced into the Warsaw Ghetto. Although he had little access to painting materials in the Ghetto, he did continue to paint. Only three paintings from this period of his life survived the Holocaust: "In the Shelter," "Forced Labor," and "Refugees." In early 1943 Moshe was deported to &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_5"&gt;Majdanek&lt;/span&gt;. In her will, which was preserved along with her watercolors in the underground archives of the Warsaw ghetto, she wrote, "...I am now standing at the boundary between life and death. I already know for certain that I must die and that is why I want to bid farewell to my friends and to my work. Farewell, comrades and friends. Jews! Do everything that such a tragedy will never be repeated!" He was the author of Cinnamon Shops and Sanatorium under the Hourglass.
